CBSE Adoption in AP Government Schools in Limbo
AP government deferred the decision to adopt Central Board of Secondary Education syllabus pattern in Government Schools as the Chief Minister Rosaiah directed the Education officials to seek the opinion of the involved parties. This direction was given during a review meeting on issues concerning school education today. Mr Rosaiah indicated that he wants to adopt a democratic process by seeking additional opinions on this topic before coming to a decision.
Students, parents, teacher MLCs, MLAs and teachers unions gave a unanimous opinion that an improved State syllabus should be adopted instead of CBSE syllabus. The bigger challenge according to officials is the inability of the teachers to handle the CBSE syllabus. Officials at the meeting informed Mr Rosaiah that state syllabus was equally good and the content of the syllabus needed improvement to match up with the CBSE standards.
